The project was developed as part of my Bachelor’s degree, a visual exploration of the history and trauma of American slavery, expressed through abstract and dark illustrations. Each piece seeks to capture the emotional weight of loss, resilience, and the human spirit under oppression. By working primarily with black and red ink, I aimed to symbolize both suffering and strength and the tension between destruction and survival. The use of water, ink and salt, created organic textures and unpredictable patterns, showing the emotional depth of a painful and yet powerful past.
